ITSA Files Comments on Proposed Passenger Information Collection by CDCITSA ALERT: February 14, 2006
ITSA also filed comments on a proposal by the Centers for Disease Control to collect information from airline passengers to help combat public health threats.
ITSA supports CDC's effort to protect public health, but believes it must be reconciled with other important considerations, such as privacy, and it must be cost-effective.
Any new requirements also should be coordinated with other agencies requiring collection of passenger information, such as from the arms of the Department of Homeland Security.
And, in any event, any such information should be collected at the point of departure, where the most up-to-date data can be obtained.
